Burda International CZ belongs to the top of the Czech media scene. Our multimedia house has been operating in the Czech Republic since 1991. We publish 40 periodical magazines with popular lifestyle titles such as ELLE, Marianne, Marianne Bydlení, Apetit, Svět ženy, CHIP etc.

We publish more than 80 special issues a year and run several successful digital products such as mobile apps and e-subscriptions.

We are proud to be part of the international Hubert Burda Media Group, which operates in 20 countries and employs over 10,000 people. Working closely with our parent organization allows us to share know-how, see the context in a broader perspective and gives us room for continuous learning.

In June 2023, we acquired Extra Online Media (EOM), one of the leading digital media companies in the Czech Republic, expanding our online portfolio and strengthening our position in the online market. EOM's portfolio includes some of the most popular websites in the Czech Republic, including eXtra.cz, one of the largest Czech websites, Lifee.cz, a women's and lifestyle website, and Toprecepty.cz, the number one cooking and recipe website in the Czech Republic.

We supplement our premium portfolio of published titles with attractive events not only for readers. For example, the largest shopping event in the Czech Republic, Marianne Days, as well as the popular Apetit picnic held in the middle of Prague. Through the ELLE Beauty Lounge, we bring you a look behind the scenes of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and we welcome beauty and fashion lovers to the ELLEphoria beauty festival.

Our events are complemented by sophisticated mobile apps that provide additional tips and bargains in addition to discounts. We are in intensive contact with our audience through social networks, preparing podcasts with attractive guests and microsites dedicated to special projects.

The origin of the Burda phenomenon
The history of Burda today dates to the first half of the 20th century. It all started in Germany when Aeanne Burda, convinced her husband, Franz Burda, to buy the small fashion publishing house Effi. In January 1950, the first issue of Burda Moden was published. In 1961, with a circulation of 1.2 million, Burda becomes the largest fashion magazine in the world. For many women, Aenne Burda became a symbol of success, the "American dream" in the German way. She is as much a twentieth-century fashion icon as Coco Chanel or Estée Lauder.
Today, Hubert Burda Media has 327 magazines in its portfolio worldwide. The holding also includes Burda International CZ.
